Gola del Furlo is an ancient gorge, formed by erosion, between the mountains, Pietralata and the Paganuccio. Through the gorge flows the river Candigliano, which is a tributary of the Metauro, one of the most important rivers of this area. Through the gorge is also the “Via Flaminia”, this road is built by the Romans and was used as a transit route to Rimini. There are still pieces of old road preserved in various places and it is certainly worthwhile to take a look.
